Melanie Slym
Community Support Worker
I joined the Roads Program during COVID, coming in with a background in childcare and youth support. It was a big change—but from the start, it felt like the right place to be. I’ve always been drawn to roles that center around care, and this work really aligns with that part of who I am.
One of the things I love most is taking participants out for mall lunches or a walk through the neighbourhood. These small outings often turn into the best parts of the day. I also love supporting people on shopping trips—helping build independence and confidence while just having a good time.
Family is a huge part of my life. We’re very close, and I bring that same sense of connection and support to the Roads community. I feel lucky to be here and to contribute to a place that values kindness, inclusion, and everyday joy.
